Definitley leaking past your float valve either float sticking again or adjustment of float wrong, or float needle damaged or o ring around brass seat damaged.

do a search through the forums for carbs, but if you freed off stuck float then i assume you had the bowl off? If you did you would see the tang moves the float needle in to the seated postion. This can be adjusted to seat the float needle sooner by bending with radio pliers or small screwdriver. Best to check condition of all components and o rings when in there. Small adjustments remeber and then do a wet bench test as described by many in the forums or even look up you tube for a video. Best do all 4 carbs to get levels within spec.

Yep - had that problem once with gas flowing around the outside of a "loose" seat - its actually the o-ring around the seat that fails.

soo... did you perform a "wet set" of the floats before reinstalling the carbs?

Yes I preformed a wet test floats where set too high they where all over the place when I had the bowl of and compared them. Did a detailed cleaning while they where apart suprised how clean they where for sitting for ten plus years. I just need to get a jet kit and replace them. So I happy now no more leaks. Idle like a champ once the engine is warm. I just need to fix the exshaust leak from the headers, paint and my xj bobber projects done
