So I'm in the process of taking the shims out right now and I'm using the tool. When I put them back in and took the tool out it made this sound... Is this normal?

I made sure not to turn towards the tool at all cost and I'm pretty sure it's just the sound of what the tool holds down going back up into place? Just wanna make sure I'm doing it right before f***ing something up

Without knowing the sound you heard it's hard to say for sure. Shims do often go "SNAP" as the settle into the bucket.

what sound? is it a popping sound? if you don't have the shim lined up with the bucket, it will sometimes pop into place and can squirt oil up out of the head.

As above, like a POP/SNAP sound?
It's the sound of the shim snapping back into the holder on the bucket as the camshaft pushes on it.
    Or summat

Also if anyone wants to help me further...
    Intake 1: .15mm Y280 installed
    Intake 2: .18mm Y280 installed
    Intake 3: .16mm
    Intake 4: .135mm

    Exhaust 1: .18mm
    Exhaust 2: .18mm
    Exhaust 3: .19 mm
    Exhaust 4: .18mm

Pollock has been helping me out a tonne with all of this and he suggested to leave my slightly out of spec intake 3 and I completely agree so all I need to throw in is a Y285 in intake 2, right?

Yes, intake 1,3, and 4 and all of the exhaust clearance are fine. Intake # 2 needs a 2.85mm shim in place of the current 2.80mm shim.
