I just recently bought a 1981 Seca 750. The battery is weak so I removed it not really paying attention to how it came out. I went and bought a new battery but the terminals are backwards. Not wanting to re-wire the termianl leads, I am going to return it. The questions I have is why is their (NAPA) database showing the wrong battery and what is the correct one. The funny part is the battery that came out has the positive terminal on the right side also. Not sure how the previous owner was able to get the battery in the battery box. Lotting at the right side of the bike, the positive terminal is towards the back or the left side of the battery.

Here is a pic of a 1982 750 Seca setup. The positive terminal is towards the front of the bike. If you do some searching on the site, I think most of the members recommend the AGM battery. PO's can be very creative.

My positive will not reach this set-up. Unfortunately.

Gord, I have the same battery setup as you, positive terminal towards the rear of the bike. I was able to get a stock sized battery from Piston Ring for around 80$. I'll be switching to an AGM battery this summer though.

Jeezus, Polock! That's some interesting wiring. Was your inspiration a bowl of spaghetti? Lol! Is that an alligator clip in there? Not quite as tidy as the Rooster's, but if it works, what are ya gonna do!

Thanks for posts guys. I got NAPA searching for the right battery so I can avoid re-wiring.

If your posts are on the opposite sides of the battery, just get longer pos. and neg. leads. It's as simple as that, you don't have to 'get creative', just get a longer black ground wire and a longer red Positive lead.
