its the clutch safety switch, the safety circuit prevents you starting the machine ,if its in gear, unless the clutch lever is pulled. so you can do without it if you want.
the switch part looks ok to me , I think you've broken the cable end plug, I believe there's another recent thread on this, stating chacal has them.
p.s. other thread is "connection behind clutch broken"

Had mine come apart the exact same way. The good news is that you can plug it back in and secure it with a zip tie. Works fine for me. Good luck on the bar swap.

Or you could just buy a new one. They go for about $6.50 each.

The secret to removing it is to press the little barb in by pushing it in at the small access hole on the underside of the housing. Press it in, and slide the switch out

Yup, got it out no problem. I'm just gonna ziptie it together and if it works it works and there's not much more to ask!
    Thanks guys

What if it works in the garage, but stops working when you are 500 miles from home?

As I understand, it just removes the safety of having to pull in your clutch to start your bike unless it's already in neutral?
Safe is good but i'll get home fine if that's the case

It means that if you stall at a light you won't be starting it without having to first put the bike in neutral. Yes you will get home safely, but it might be annoying on occasion.

UNLESS someone in a cage sees the light change and runs you down while you hunt for neutral.

I implies as much. Perhaps too subtly.
