I was having issues with my 82 XJ750 last season. the headlight was dim, and then it just went out, and I lost power, and the battery wouldn't hold a charge.
at first I thought the brushes were going out, so I opened up the cover to the stator, it was a little dirty, but the brushes looked good. I charged the battery, but I couldn't get it to hold more than 9 volts.
so, I thought I'll just buy a new battery, and clean out the stator this spring. got the stator cleaned out, bought a new sealed battery and did the sensor bypass. turned the key and I had nothing. no lights, no nothing.
at first I thought maybe my ignition switch was acting up. turned out to be the fuses, one had gotten warm enough to melt into the cover, but it didn't blow. I decided it was time for an upgrade. I found this on amazon.com.

after, the fuse holder I found was taller than I thought, so I had to mount it on top of the battery box.

Nice! now you have spare fuses too! Did you have to add extra wire to move it to the battery box? Where did you move that wire and connector that was in that spot in the "before" pic? I feel like this may be in my future!

So the earlier 650's use 10 and 30 amp fuses? IIRC my 82 has 10 or 15 and 20.

I didn't have to add any wire, and I just pushed that connector behind the battery box. it's under the fuse box. as for size of fuses. mine had shown 30a & 3-10's on the tag on the old fuse box. so that's what I used.

Any electrical issues since? Or has the new fuse box worked as good as it looks? ;)

runs good, and all lights work, I haven't had it on the road yet, it's kind of cold here today, only 43 deg. and there is snow in the forecast, so might be a while before I get to give it a good run. but I can tell it's going to be better already.
