    The PO removed the front turn signals.So the rear would not work.Not enough load for the blinker relay to work I thought.Now I've added two up front.Now new problem.Right side works,blinks.Left side does nothing.Now If I plug the non working light into the working side,it works.So I know its not in the light itself.Any Ideas on where to look next.I feel like a monkey with a grapefruit!

    The PO installed two extra turn signals (naked bulbs) directly front of the brake light to take up load along with new turn signals on both sides. It's mounted on a piece of sheetmetal screwed to the plastic fender under the fairing. I asked him about it, he said that the new signals wouldn't blink quick enough so he put those to take up more load.

    I'm sorry, I'm new to this whole XJ thing but hope this helps a bit or at least make you feel better.

    I can try take a photo of the set up if you want me to.

    ++++++++

    The PO said that the signal flasher needed a bigger load???
    Baloney.

    That flasher work just fine.
    Measure the voltage at your Battery with the bike at 2,000 rpm's.

    At least your problem will let us have some fun with a thread in General Lounge.

    I had the similar problem, take apart the flasher housing and give it a good steel wool/ light sandpaper cleaning, followed by a little dielectric grease and check all signal connections the same.

    Rick you should add "Check, clean, and dielect. grease many if not all electrical connectors/connections!" to his tag line!!

    OK...

    Try this, please.
    Put the one that works - ON
    Put the one the don't - ON

    Increase the engines rpm's by 500 revs or more.
    Does it start to blink?

    Yes.The oly thing I can figure is replace the hot wire for the left side coming to the switch.And the hot side going to the light.But I dont know the color codes for them.I've looked at the wiring diagram and it is wrote in chiniese.
