Just my $0.02, there's no reason to get "minor" road rash, no matter how much training a rider has. Proper gear will save your skin, on the street or the track. I went down around 50 mph and slid 150ft. Even with entry-level gear, some of which actually required replacement after the accident, I had 0% road rash and only needed to go to the ER to x-ray my wrist to make sure it wasn't broken (after getting my bike towed home).

I don't consider myself lucky; fortunate yes, but lucky would have been wearing shorts and flip-flops and landing on a bed of pillows. I was fortunate the damage wasn't worse (hit anything at that speed and you'll break many bones no matter the gear), but it would have been a whole lot worse without the ballistic nylon Joe Rocket brand over-pants that I decided to buy and wear one year earlier. ATGATT will save your skin, and it costs a lot less than a hospital bill ($100s vs $10,000s).

I'm sure it wasn't your intention mindwebs, proper training is great, and if you're riding track days you'll be forced to wear track quality leathers. But no matter the training and skill level, riders won't be invincible on the street and should still wear proper motorcycle gear.

just in case someone is wondering, your new heavy Levi's last about as long as 5 paper towels once they hit the road

I'm not condoning unsafe riding, here, but all this would be free in Canada! If you wanna speed, come up north. Only drawback is that summer is so short that you don't have enough time to get up to speed! Come for the healthcare, stay for the 11.5 month long winters!
Just kidding! Ride safe, wear a helmet, and keep the shiny side up!

matti, you are indeed a comedian! my darling wife avoided serious injury by wearing Kevlar pants when she locked up the front brakes and went down last month. she still had some bumps, but she shook it off and we continued our ride that day.

Heck it doesn't take a lot of speed to get torn up, either. My wife got the front wheel of her gy6 scooter stuck in a railroad crossing groove at 15mph and got dumped onto the road. Broke her elbow and rashed up her back pretty good. Luckily she had her full face helmet on because the chin bar and shield were mangled as well and I wouldn't want her face messed up.
The really aggravating thing is she had her Joe Rocket textile jacket in the trunk of the scooter, but it was such a nice day.....yes I still give her shit for that.

The seca II was a 600, but that's beside the point...........all your questions are being answered in your other forum that you started on this.
