Well I got lucky and got a brand new stock fairing from E-bay for a good price.
What I need now is the fairing bracket and any information I can find on how it all mounts in there. The fairing I have is not the little one that mounts on the handle bars, or the great big one that the touring package had, its the sport type that came on all the FJ style bikes. (can I say FJ in here?)
I will need the mounting bracket, so if anyone has one, bent or not, please let me know. I can make one up, but would prefer the stock one as I think the front brake, master cylinder mounts to it.
Pictures would be great if you have some.

Thank you in advance for your help.

    Peter

What do you plan on fitting it to and any idea what it's off?

Perhaps take a pic of it

    Thanks for the reply.
From what I have found, the fairing came on many of the 1984 XJ 750 models in North America, and lots of the European models.
It will be mounted on a 1981 XJ750R.
I have the diagrams that show the mount (Stay). It is Yamaha part number 51J28356-00-00
I will try to attach a picture of someone elses bike to give you the idea of what it looks like.

Thanks for any help you can give.

    Peter

It's the same as what was put on the 85 XJ900's

Sorry I have no idea how they were mounted.

What is that lower plastic piece called on that bike and anyone know if that would fit a maxim?

The lower fairing is often called a chin scoop. I have on on my bike. I think it looks great. Really dresses up that area between the pipes and the front tire.
I modified mine from a Seca II 600 by cutting it in half, and adding in a bit of fiberglass material. I made up my own mounting brackets from some .080 aluminum sheet.
Once I can get my hands on a mounting bracket for the fairing, I will have the bike looking like I want it.
Hopefully someone will jump in here with some pictures or better yet, a mounting bracket.

Chin scoops, try JC Whitney. Maeir (Maier?) makes'em, black ABS, paintable. They make windscreens also. About $125 US. Comes with mounting bracket.

Might be pain to get at the oil filter.
