    I plan on making a trip top Fastenal so I can purchase some replacement SS bolts/screws. I have been able to find the quantity, metric size and pitch of the bolts from my service manual in the torque spec. section. But I it doesn't have the associated lengths. Just basically want to replace the ones on the engine covers (generator cover, oil pump cover, crankcase covers, etc). Does anybody have a list or can point me in the right direction? Thanks.

    Unfortunately I was not able to find specific information prior to my purchase. But I was in the area and stopped by Fastenal and purchased a number of M6 1.00 pitch stainless steel allen head socket bolts. Purchased a quantity of four 16mm, twelve 20mm, four 25mm and four 30mm. Twenty four stainless steel bolts in total for around $10.00. Not too bad I think. I'm hoping my guesses are correct but I can return and exchange any of them if I should need to do so. I shall post my findings of the correct required sizes once I'm done. Thereby, others that may find the information useful if they want to purchase these parts locally instead of sending away for a complete kid on the net.

    Currently going through this myself. Picked up ss screws for my mc reservoir cover, and ss bolts for my axle pinch bolts. However, I wasn't aware of the minimum $10 purchase at my local brafasco. Trying to put together a list of fastener to replace so I can get them all at once. Did you ever happen to make one with the sizes?

    why not buy them from XJ4ever http://www.xj4ever.com/catalog/e-7-covers.html
    HCP13990 Aftermarket complete ENGINE SIDE COVERS HARDWARE KIT gives you a full set of the proper length bright stainless steel bolts for all of the engine side covers. Note that this kit replaces the original phillips-drive screws used on the oil pump ("YICS") covers with allen-drive bolts as used on all the other engine case side covers, for a more matched appearance.
    $ 19.95

    Because of shipping, it will cost me the same amount just for the postage as it would to buy them all here. Not to mention the fact that the Canadian dollar is currently about .80 USD, plus it wont cost me more than a buck a bolt here.

    bring the screws you want to replace into the store or measure the lengths of them. I can not get proper length in local stores or find them in catalogs they are not all standard off the shelf lengths

    Sorry Beekman, can't even remember what I used or didn't use. Just eyeballed them as needed. I have Ace Hardware (very expensive but close), Lowes (a bit better price) and further away Fastenal (great prices). Never got the info from anybody. And with the long intervals between working on this bike I had forgotten what the sizes / lengths are. Polock uses another online retail which I think is a better price yet. Maybe he can chime in. May offset your shipping and exchange. But you need to know the sizes and lengths.

    McMaster Carr, but you get a lot of one size, that's ok if you have a few bikes or just start replacing screws all over your bike.
