Any one have info on converting front turn signal to parking light and turn signal.

Can I just run dual filament sockets patched to the turn signal or will that make them blink fast. Do I need to wire in a dual flasher like in autos?

    Thanks

I believe you should be able to just run a dual filament style bulb (like an 1157) and tap a line from, say, the cluster backlight and run it to the low filament, since that's a line that's on anytime the key is in and turned to ACC. Just know that you'll be creating extra draw on your battery. You may want to consider converting to LEDs at the same time to keep your overall draw low. Just know that those bulbs can be pricey; they're in the $12+ per bulb range.

Also, for the LEDs to work you'd need to change over to an electronic flasher relay.

I'm an idiot. I just re-read my post. I want to add a parking light circuit not a turn signal circuit.

I answered assuming you meant running lights. I.e. you'd have four dim amber lights on at all times in all four corners, without ruining your turn-signal abilities. If that's what you meant too, then my answer stands.

You'll need new sockets for the bulbs. The stock turn signals are a 1156 bulb which has a different base than a 1157 (dual filament, the same type that are on your tail/brake lights). You could run the low power setting to the same circuit that the tail lights take up, and then wire each high power circuit to the individual sockets.

Yup, good point Pilot. I think the rear running light line is the blue wire if I remember correctly.

I too am assuming you mean running lights, as in just having all four turns on solid while the bike is running. There are kits out there that will just make your turns be on solid all the time and blink off when activated as turn signals. Such as this: http://www.adventuretech.biz/running-light-adaptors-for-turn-signals.html (these say two-wire signals though and would make amber running lights which I think is illegal in the rear)
There's also these guys apparently running with my brilliant invention. Oh well. http://www.twistedthrottle.com/turn...nversion-kit-stem-mounted-turn-signals-type-1
    Lastly, a useful thread perhaps:

However you go about it, I think it will be worth it. I feel like my bike is a hell of a lot more visible now. I will do it to the other two soon enough.

Yes it can be done, and you'll likely find there are already the required 'running light' connections in the headlight bucket sitting there unused.
I did exactly this years and years ago on my 81 -- changed the front sockets to dual connector ones to use 1157 bulbs, ran the extra power line up into the headlight bucket and connected to the running light wires that were already there. Works perfectly.
