I just picked up an XJ1100 with 3600 miles. It has a few of the normal issues of a bike that has sat for 11 years, the registration expired in 04.
Going to clean this up for my wife (and trade hers to my daughter). The PO got this bike from is dad. He was going to cut it up and make a bobber. My wife whispered to me "get the bike don't, let it get cut up" So now I have another XJ [IMG].

I will take better pictures later today.

real nice! one of these days, i want to find a non-bobbed xj to see how they ride stock. my first bike was a 400 special and that thing was just solid as a rock, rode like a dream--just wasn't fast in the least. :D

    keep us posted!

Your wife should be held up as a hero for other wives! Could we start some sort of XJwives page so she can pass her wisdom on to others, specifically mine. As it is for wives, might be better on FaceBook!

She loves the XJ's... the maxim's anyway. When I traded my XJ750 Maxim for two XS1100's a few years ago, we got in a fight right in front of the seller and my son. She didn't like the deal and didn't talk to me for a day or so. This time she only question the value of the bike I was trading him for. That maybe we could sell it and make a better deal.

Thanks guys. The pictures show it to be cleaner than it is. It has varnish from leaking gas and dust everywhere. I will take my time and go through all the usual thing sense this will be my wife's I want it to work perfectly for her.

this is exactly how I felt about the bike I bought and refurbed for my wife. I wanted to make sure it would be safe and reliable before handing it over to her (which it is). fortunately for me, she bought herself a maxi scooter and decided I should have the bike I built for her.

side bar, I am glad she did that too, because she has dropped her scooter a couple times already. I shudder at the thought of the damage she could have done to the seca by dropping it.

My wife's one time of going down was the 750 Maxim. The road was wet, she rounded the corner onto the ramp and the back tire broke loose and left her standing in the road... somehow she never went down!!! The car behind her stopped helped pick up the bike and she went on her marry way.

Very nice. Yeah my wife has been pretty cool about the cycle hobby, I think mostly cause she rides. She never cared for the jeep/scout 80/kitchen full of pinball machines.
