I apologize if this has been covered. I did a quick search and came up short.

My 1982 Seca 550 has been in the process of a cafe/flat track transformation. In the process, I've decided to use a toggle switch rather than the keyed ignition switch. Therefore, I'd rather take off the locking gas cap than have to remember to bring the key just for gas.

My question is whether or not I'd be able to thread a standard motorcycle gas cap in? Seems like a dumb question, but I don't have a cap to try...

A second, unrelated question is about the "junction box" in the front brake line. Does anyone know it's purpose? My new bars are shorter than the original, so I'd like a shorter brake line. Am I able to run a single line to the caliper and ditch the two piece/junction setup? Thanks!

A standard gas cap will not thread in. As for the junction box it serves no purpose I have removed mine and ran a single brake line from master cylinder to brake caliper without any problems.

It actualy does serve a purpose when running rubber brake lines, or whith dual front brakes. With braided lines on a single brake system it can be dispensed with.
