There is a grove cut into the bottom side of the hand clutch lever around the hole for the bolt.
is there suppose to be some sort of o ring or nylon washer that fits into the groove?

in the groove around where the bolt goes through.
Also, is it supposed to have a bushing like the brake lever?

I would bet that if you put a magnet to the inner part of the hole you might find that it is a steel bush.

{EDIT} I need to correct myself. The parts fische does show an o-ring for the clutch lever.
mistake removed, but noted for posterity.

Ahh. Now to find the correct o-ring.
I still have to mount it and see how much less slop it has.
    thanks

Next will be to lube the cable real well.
I hope this all makes the clutch a little easier to pull. If not,by the end of summer my left forearm should look like popeye's

If your cables that bad, replace with a new one and lube prior to fitting.

Your cable is probably rusting away internally, any strands starting to fray will be catching on the inner lining .

A perfect cable set up correctly makes riding and traveling in heavy traffic a dream.

You should definately order a new clutch cable. They aren't really meant to last forever, and a new one will feel like butter.

if the hole in your lever is oval, your clutch gets hard to pull. the lever starts to hit the perch and that changes the pivot point

I disconnected the clutch cable from both ends today. the cable is sticking bad inside. Tomorrow I will put the new one on,along with the new handle and o ring. I did put the new handle on without the o ring to see how it was and it flops around on the bolt just like the old one. That's why I was wondering if there was a bushing that goes in it. Maybe it will be better with the o ring, or maybe the bolt is just worn.
