Bike dies when warm

    i have a 83 midnight maxim 750. the bike runs good until it gets warm or up to temp then it will die. it will turn over but not fire. after i let it cool it will start right up again. any suggestions?

    how long does it run after cooling restarting?
    have you tried opening your gas cap vent could be clogged and fuel supply will be restricted.

    sounds more like the carbs are set too rich.

    not long. maybe 10-15 minutes. i haven't tried the the gas cap but i will. i have talked to a few ppl and it seems everyone wants to point at the coils or the stator. things like that. something in the ignition system. what i don't want to do is just throw parts at it. can get pricey.

    I've read a few other threads and most if not all point at the valves. i did a valve check about 1000 miles ago and they all checked ok. i will check them again.

    that is classic valve adjustment but if you checked them, i'am good with that. does it sputter and miss then die or more of a just stop running thing.
    sputter, i'd look to valves or carbs. just quit, electrical.
