What do I need to look at for a hanging Sticking float?
I just set gas levels, when I fill the carbs with gas The carb floods a light tap stops the on the side stops it.
I do a partial drain and refill with no problems.
just did the carbs cleaned replace parts .
this is the first time filling carbs. never filled them on the bike it had been sitting for a few years.

when the float bowl is empty, the floats hang so far down that the needle comes partway out of the seat. when gas goes in, the needle can't go back in straight and gets stuck. once you tap on it and it
unsticks itself it's ok and won't happen again until you run out of gas. there's a adjustment for that but i don't know mikuni carbs that well. somebody here will tell you where it is

heres the bottom of the mikuni with the float bowl removed ,and the carb upside down.
the adjustment to stop the needle from dropping too low ,is the little "tab" that you can see ,resting against the r/h float post.
when you turn the carb the right way up, you bend the tab so it doesn't allow the float to drop too far as to allow the needle to come out at an angle.

You will find lots of advice on this either by searching this forum or on the general internet, i would be tempted to go with Polock advice as to adjust the tab you would be best to remove carb bank from bike which can be tricky(airbox rubbers). If you remove the bank there is an "opportunity to check other parts\clean and replace old seals and o rings! You didnt say whether it sticks frquently or just once? If frequently then needs investigation if only happened once i wouild be tempted to "monitor".

I just rebuilt the carbs they are off the bike. while trying to adjust the floats/fuel level I had 1 carb that kept overflowing on first fill and every time i did a first fill. taping the side would stop the flow of gas. so its frequently.
would not consider monitoringat all. even if the carbs were on the bike off they would come to fix this, I do not need to flood out the crank case with gas with oil at 7$ a quart

I am not talking about the float hight in relationship to gas level. what I mean is when the carb bowls are off how far down the floats hang. bottomed out
this is set by a tab near the float pin and post, not the tang under the float valve assembly with the spring.

I don't think there is a specification or measurement, for the lower float level, it needs to be high enough so as not to allow the needle to come out at an angle , and just low enough to give a steady stream of fuel supply.
