I have an 81 xj550 and have been getting an intermittent squeal coming from the front end. Brakes are new and act and feel right and applying them in any proportion doesn't affect the noise. Seems to stop over about 20 mph. Speedometer reads fairly steady and no bouncing. Could this be the beginning of a drive gear issue?

    Thanks

    Lube the speedometer cable.

Should be able to just disconnect the cable from the speedo and fill 'er up right?

Pull the cable from the outer sleeve. Clean it and grease it. Liquid lubricants will just run out the other end.
