Ok, so here are some pics.

Here is the bike in total. The tank is off an 83 midnight 750 and has been repainted in chrysler 300 black. Its a nice black with a little metal flake that looks great in the sun. Also hides dust well.

Ill start with the lay down damage...cuz im sure thats what you're all interested in.

The right side of the engine and muffler got it, as well as a restriction in the pipe for the number 3 cylinder. The pipe has been ..uh, cleverly and cheaply unrestricted with a drill and several holes :) and has had zero problems since the fixing.

    Now, the odometer

    Finally, the tires....lots of meat

As you may notice the bike is a little less than clean here. I ride it regularly...I assure you the bike is not a disapointment and chances are if you come to look at it the odometer will not read the same :)

    Hey Shaf
I may be sitting here drinkng red wine after a 70 mile bike ride (that's with pedals) and waxing maudlin but I really dug your post about not being able to sell your bike. There's just something about those XJ's.
Besides, I hope you were only offering the list members that price becasue I see worse shape examples going for lots more.
    Good luck,
    -Mark

... and, as the Sun set in the West ... the Glass slipper fit, the House made of Bricks wasn't blown down, the Bike wasn't TOO BIG or too small, Dorothy's OK back in Kansas ...

... and, they all lived happily ever-after!

    Cut.

    That's a rap!

Nothing wrong with hanging on to what you love. Saves regrets later.
    Good call Shaf!

Nice bike... find that down-payment somewhere else! Hey, I understand we're not made out of money, but hopefully you can keep it. They are a blast!

Don't worry, you'll find a way. I was going to give up my XJ900 Seca but then I couldn't and as things worked out, I've added an 81 XJ650 and Mazda 323 hatchback! All on a low budget!
You CAN hold onto that bike and still get a car. Maybe not a new car but a decent cage for the winters.

J/K dude!! :D Do what you gotta do. And don't give up. You'll find another XJ to call your own someday, when you can afford to look again. Just keep an eye on Craigslist. Your future bike is waiting for you, whether your sweetie knows it or not!
