Hey all, new to the forums and somewhat new to riding. I started riding last yer but got very littel seat time in due to a bike being broken most of the year. It was an '80 Honda CM400T, which I sold at teh end of the season having put on a whole 500 miles on it.

Finally was able to find a good cheap bike this year to get me back on the seat and riding again. I picked up an '81 Maxim 650. It's in really good shape for how much money I paid. 14,500 original miles, new paint job (rattle can job but it looks ok) and a new seat. It does have a few things wrong with it but what 26 year old bike doesn't. Mostly I'm very happy with the bike so far, and just plain happy to be riding again.

    See you around.

    -Matt

Been running great so far. Only major issue it the right side exhaust has a big hole in it from rust so it sounds a bit like a twin right now. Might just roll with it until I can get a new exhaust, maybe even the Mac 4-1.

Actually here's a video my wife took of me taking out on its first ride after I got the bike.

I think you should rivet a patch on that exhaust leak and pack the edge with some JB Weld ...

Just to be a thoughtful guy.

Yeah, I probably "should" fix the leak. Maybe I'll take it over to my pop's place, and use his MIG to patch it up.

Good score Matt! Welcome to the gang. I've a metal patch wound around the muffler and held in place with band clamps. Not much but it is better than nothing.
