Does anyone know of a source for short clutch and brake levers for my XJ650RJ? An inch or so less length would suit, new or from another model. Thanks for any leads...

Hacksaw, round the ends with a file, done.

Thanks for the suggestion. That would work, but it would look like I took a hacksaw to it :-0 Interesting that shortie levers are a pretty common mountain bike accessory, but not so much with mcycles.

Short levers are quite common for motorcycles, just not for 30 year old motorcycles.

I got a R1 master cylinder with lever and a shorty style YZ clutch lever on mine. The R1 lever is a little bigger than clutch lever but still not nearly as big as stock levers

why would you want to shorten them? It makes the 'pull' harder. Longer levers = easier pull

Yeah, I'm hoping to find an existing part I can re-purpose :)

I don't want to spin off into a "why are you doing this" discussion, so suffice to say that I enjoy a three-finger pull at mid-lever right now and assume that will not change.

That's the problem with billet... you end up paying for the aluminum they carve off, and that stuff ain't cheap. Plus you're paying for their fancy CNC machine too! I want some, but factor in the exchange rate for Canadian pesos and the duty and the shipping, and those are gonna be at least 150 bux (with the anodized finish, of course)!
Damn! My bike don't deserve that kind of jewelry.

YZ levers are dirt cheap for new ones and keep an eye out on eBay, I got that master cylinder for a pretty good price as well. Both bolt right on with no mods needed.
