Just picked up a new to me 1981 XJ650 Maxim. Thanks to this forum, performing all the checks on brakes, oil change, etc.

What I am stumped on is tires. I need front and rear. Looking at the Kenda Cruiser K671, for front and rear. Good, or can you recommend better? This is my first bike, and I plan on using it for cruising, no crazy driving.

A lot of folks use Dunlops and that's what came on my bike. I've heard good things about Kendas. I use Bridgestone on my Hondas and if I can find Bridgestones for my XJ700n then that's what I'll use. However, if you are just going to do easy riding I think any good tire should be fine.

i like Kendas, Shinko is right there too for the bang for the buck. Any new tire is better than any bald cracked up tire

second what @Polock said. Personally I prefer Bridgestone Spitfire 11R for my current riding style. However, when I first started (and before I discovered the sweet sweet power band!) Dunlops work just fine and will last a bit longer. As the other guys said, any new tire should be fine for some easy cruising

    What's wrong with bald? ;)

I'm running a set of front and rear Michelin Commander II. Very happy with them.

My experience is limited to a few tires but I've always liked the Bridgestone Spitfire 11R's as well. Just put a set of white lettered ones on my 650 Maxim rims.

I just got a set of Pirelli sport demons mounted. The bike is torn apart right now for valves and the wheels aren't back on it yet, but I'll update once I get the new tires scrubbed in and some miles on them.
