    Hello Everyone,
I've been scrolling around for awhile and this is my first post so.....hello.
I just got a fender from craigs for $30!!! it a honda shadow with all the lights. Right now I'm in the process of chopping it down the middle and taking out 2in. so that it will fit. The fender was originally 9in wide and that is how wide the frame is and io'm taking it down to 6 3/4in. So since I don't feel like chopping my frame this is the route I'm going. I noticed that a lot of people cut off their fenders, but there aren't that many that extend them down with different fenders. I wonder why that is?

Also if anyone has a good walk through of how to shorten my shocks that would be great. I have metal cutting/welding available to me so that is not a problem, I could just use some help in the actual process of it.

I'll post some pics along the way for anyone who is interested.
    Thanks
    Brad

Ok I got the fender cut, re-welded, sanded, primed, and painted, and mounted. I can't find batteries for my camera anywhere, but when I do I will be sure to post some pics.

Greetings Brad and welcome to the gang. It sounds like your really into the mod scene. I'm a stocker myself but you will find plenty of folks here that will add their wisdom/opinions to your questions. I've no experience with bodywork or mods so I'm going to pass on offering any advise but there are some folks that mention that the stock shocks off of an HD will fit and provide some lowering of the bike. Hit the Search icon on the left side of your screen and dig in. Best of luck.

I'm not sure the year of the shadow it was new than 95 though. my brother was the one who actually bought it. Then he didn't end up doing anything with it so it is my gain.

I had a friend build my rear struts out of 3/4 stainless rod.Hardtail, and lowered in the rear all at the same time.I dont know about lowering the front shocks.I had brake issues with my original forks. So I found a longer set from a 80 Kawasaki KZ550 that were same size, and width. So I lost 2" in the rear. And gained 3" in the front. But I want to add a rear fender like the one you describe. To give it a even lower look in the rear.I cant post pics as my camera isn't working right either.

Ok, I finished and have pictures up in my gallery. I got the wrong paint to match so I think i'm going to wait until the riding season is over and repaint it this winter. I also want to trim down the seat to be wayyy more low profile. maybe even take off the grab bar. any other suggestions welcome???
    Thanks

Does any body have a seat idea that I could use or even mod that would go well with my bike? Maybe a Ultima seat?

There was a guy that was here for about a month back in April or so that bought a bike, did a real nice seat mod, then sold the bike and disappeared. Sadly, The pics of his seat went with him.

He basically took it to an upholstery shop and had them shave it down and recover it smooth so the lines of the seat kinda followed the lines of the tank. In order for that to look good though, you would pretty much have to get rid of the grab bar on the back.

I like the fender though. Looks real clean.
