Alright guys, weigh in. Is this going to leak? If YES, what's the answer? JB Weld? Haha....
Keep in mind it's temporary until my spin-on conversion gets here.

Yes it's going to leak like mad wait for new kit. Not worth risking engine or life when it dumps oil on rear tire

OK. I figured, but thought I should confirm. I have the machine shop here at work taking a whack at it as well. Nothing to lose anyway...

What I'm saying is, we have a professional machine shop that can repair it like new, BUT... if they f*** it up that's fine because the spin on is on it's way!

I just installed the spin-on kit today. I think you shouldn't even bother with spending the effort of repairing the factory housing. The kit was really easy to install. Plus, with the correct filter, it has more than double the filtering effectiveness of the stock units. Besides, Len had my kit to my door within 4 days of ordering it. I recommend any XJ owner to get this UPGRADE.

Just let the bike sit for the few days of waiting for the spin-on kit you ordered.

Uh.... Still can't wrap my head around that one---- are they professional or not? They want your money?---- they'll do it. With any guarantees? They do it out of the goodness of their hearts?---- they'd tell you to just wait til the new stuff arrives.

The cost of a used housing is a lot less than the repair cost of the broken one will be (you'd be lucky to get it done for $100), but since its the shop at your job I understand why you asked. Just be patient and wait for the spin-on kit to arrive. If you want to use the broken housing as an opportunity to learn how to weld and machine aluminum then go for it.

I work at a large facility that houses a full machine shop... I gave it to them. Cost is zero, so whatever.
