New to this site. Wanting to know which 750 would be best for touring .... a Maxim or a Seca.

They're both 750's, both shaft-drive, both can found in excellent shape. Opinions please ? Thanks.

I like my Maxim, it is only a 650, but being an 81 there is no YICS - which is one less thing to worry about.

Right now I have enough to worry about. o_O

Both will tour well. I prefer the more upright posture of the Seca, but others prefer the laid back comfort of the Maxim.

All of the 750s have YICS engines, and that's a good thing.

I also prefer the riding position of the Seca, but it's a personal preference thing. Whichever fits your body best.

I have both, 81 seca 83 maxim, both 750. I took the maxim out west last year. I had memory foam put in the seat and reshaped to fit me and my butt. The original handlebars were bent so I put the rams horn style 650 bars on. I had no problem riding all day, leaned against my packs. I think the trick is to make the bike fit you. The seca is not as comfy for me. It is all stock and I cann't last long on it.

I had to severely modify my '81 Seca 750 to be comfortable for long rides. Drag bars, forward controls and a custom saddle. It was GTG after all that. My '82 Maxim 750 is completely stock( except for the passenger back rest and clamp on highway pegs) and it is as comfortable a ride as I have ever owned.
