Saturday, I went on the Fallen Soldiers ride with my daughter and her husband. It covered about 100 miles with stops at 4 VFW's and ending with a picnic in our town. I had WAY too much fun screwing with the big V-twins. It's really satisfying for an old man on an old bike to smoke a big H-D coming off a stop sign or red light. I even give them a head start. Does this make me a bad person?

Beautiful day monday! Rode 184 miles through east Tn. My brother riding his H-D heritage, me, the maxim. He asked if I was scared to ride the interstate a few miles to hit a back road. HaHaHa! If I would have known the area, I would have left him at Bojangles And wait for him to catch up! He was tour guide that day, had to follow him. Bad person Naa.. I tell my brother my truck is ready to pick you up whenever and the ramps are under the deck!

Last year, one dude's H-D quit on him half way through the ride and he called his dad to trailer it home. He said he's worked on a lot of Harleys but not too many Jap bikes. I whispered to my daughter "That's because the Jap bikes keep running."

I remember hearing about when the Japanese marketing guys told the engineers they wanted to make their bikes more like Harleys. Very much confusion. "So... let me get this straight. You want us to make the bike bigger, heavier, slower, and less efficient so we can sell it for more?"
That being said, the Vrod engine was designed by Porsche, so there's gotta be some fast in there. I think they were using one by Rotax a few years ago, but it was in a Buell. I heard that one was fast, but they don't work with Buell anymore. We are just not HD's target market.

Went on the Fallen Soldiers Ride, again. Sunny and hot all day. Got to try out my new jacket. It's mesh with a removable liner. Has armor in the elbows, shoulders and back. Air flows through it quite nicely.
Behaved myself this year (for most part.) I did show off a little.
And to all you veterans, Thank You.
