Saw in a few pictures that people had taken out their airbox and opted for cone air filters on their cabs.

Best place to pick these up?

I have seen them go one ebay, don't know if there the best place, but it is a option.

FYI: I heard that they decrease performance of the bike, don't know if it is true or not, just a heads up.

Decrease huh? That's odd. Normally better breathing and exhuast increase performance.

Thanks for the heads up tho.

Decrease performance???? Sorry, a total fallacy.

They might not make a hugely noticable increase in performance but it is there.

The problem is more along the lines of people get sick of the trial and error to get the jetting right after putting pods on and give up by putting the stock box back in.

I run pods and the rejetting is not that hard. Performance is better, sound is great and fuel economy improves a little as well(depending on riding style  ) despite going up three jet sizes.

Rejetting is no issue what so ever. I'm used to it from riding dirt. Everytime we go to the coast or go to some other dunes i have to rejet and then rejet again when i get back home. Granted there is only one carb lol but its no biggie.

Just gotta find the filters is all.

Ah, yes, I remember reading that thread and refrained from voicing my disagreement with Ricks opinion because at the end of the day he still advocated pods are usable.

Trial and error isn't that hard, but what usually happens is changing a jet hilights other irregularities with the bike making it hard to diagnose specifically what is wrong.

If your electrics and carbs are all clean and up to specs then jetting is easy. Pods and 4-1 pipe go up 1 size on the pilots and 3 to 4 jet sizes on the mains. Tune and resync. Your bike will love you for it.

After all, when was the last time you saw a performance/race engine running a stock airbox????

To answer the original question, check bikebandit.com. You can drop the dough for k&n filters of get a cheaper substitute made by Emgo.

Making the pods work is just a matter of patience and tuning. Best adive I can give in that regaurd is make sure the bike is running good before you do the swap. It will be easier to make adjustments then.

Well, the bike doesn't run well at all. Last night i took out the carbs because i'm pretty sure they are in need of a deep cleaning. I was having some idle issues.

as you can see from the video. The bike idles fine and as soon as you hit the throttle the motor won't go back down. If i had to guess i'd say something in the carb is sticking open. So i figure while i have the carbs out I might as well take out the air box and put on cone filters.

    http://www.bikebandit.com/partsbandit/p ... Path~4.asp

That says its for a 650/900 and i have 750 but I would think that the size of the intake is going to be to the same or within a few mm of each other.

We all know everyone loves to look at pictures...well...at least I do.
