Got another question for a problem ive come across in my build. My right side bracket that the rear foot pegs mount on is snapped into two pieces. Now when you put the bolts on and everything you cant tell at all, its a nice clean break. However, I chopped my back seat off and never plan to have a passenger and im not a huge fan of the brackets as it is....so my question is this, do I need them? Do they provide any kind of support for anything or is there only function to mount the rear pegs?

The rear peg brackets are just that - they don't do anything else. I believe they are actually bolted on too so you should be able to just removed them although I have not tried.

The rear peg brackets also support the mufflers.

Not sure we're talking about the same thing. I was talking about the U shaped bracket the footpegs sit inside. Perhaps this is considered part of the pegs IDK. If the OP is talking about the whole 6 inch side triangle then yes this is also where the muffler attaches. If this has snapped off then I would worry about the condition of the rest of the bike, kinda sounds dangerous if the alloy is cracking and snapping.

definitely talking about the triangle shaped piece, I believe it snapped because the previous owner overtightened one of the bolts, I discovered it was broken by removing said bolt lol but yea no worries on the rest of the bike, litterally had it completely apart and now putting back together, no stock muffler and no rear pegs needed so sounds like I can skip them! Thats good news lol thanks guys

What are you putting on if no (stock) muffler?

I discovered one of my triangle foot peg brackets had cracked in two when I unbolted it as well. Right through the bolt hole (TWSS). I also have no rear passenger and took it off, and made up a hanger for my custom exhaust and wound up re-using that bolt hole on the frame side. The aluminum bracket is sitting in my "to be melted down later" bucket, drowning in coke cans.

Even a non-stock muffler/exhaust needs to be anchored. If you don't have the triangular footrest mounts on your bike, you'll need to make longer bracket or two so that your muffler is supported properly

yea I will definitely support the exhaust, as for what muffler I am running instead of stock.I am not lol straight pipe all the way. Rode like that all season last year. May get a sporster slip on and take the baffles out and do that at some point but for right now Im happy with the sound....aka LOUD that it has haha
