Just a reminder, I know for some of us EVERY day is "Ride to Work Day," but tomorrow/Wednesday is doubly so: http://ridetowork.org/

I'm even going to ride in the rain if I need to - which upsets me a bit considering how long I spent polishing up the bike for the big ride last weekend.

Hope to see you out there.

I'm an everyday rider since March.. I have driven my truck exactly 3 times in the past 4 months. Part of my triple raise/get my ass outta debt program.. I busted my boss' balls for a rather large raise (and got it), I quit smoking, and I switched to my bike as my primary ride. I'm making $400 extra a month at work, saving $35 a week not buying cigarettes, and saving almost $100 a week in gas.. I'm going to be buying my first house by the end of the year so I need all the money I can save :)

It's raining here in Philadelphia. I ride every day that it's not. I feel bad that I couldn't take part, but safety first.

I finally caught the Michigan Secretary of State (they do our DMV stuff) on a day when they weren't having computer problems (was  now :D ), so now that I have my endorsement, I was planning to ride to work today anyway (and the next day, and so on.) It's a nice little trip.

Congratulations on quiting smoking! I am now smoke free for 2.5 years and counting. I smoked 2 packs a day (give or take), and even puffed on occasion. Since buying my bike, it is my only transportation as well (for money and for the fun of riding it)... Anyhow, congratulations again. Keep it up, and remember if you ever think of smoking again, remind yourself the fight the first week was w/o a cigarette and tell yourself you'd have to go through that again even if you smoked just one cig!

Sadly, I only saw one other bike on the ride in this morning. It was sunny and dry then. Threatening rain now, tough I get to leave in 9 minutes and head east, so hopefully the chrome will stay shiny (I could give a rats ass about 'dry' when it's 85 degrees out).

I work at home on Wednesdays, but I did ride to lunch. Does that count?

I didn't even know it was "Ride to Work Day", but I ended up getting called in at the now-part-time Computer Tech job, and decided to take the bike.

    Mission accomplished, I guess.

IMHO, technically, no -- to me, the phrase implies that one would ride from home to work. However, the case could be made that when you rode back home from lunch, you were in fact riding to work, so... :p

My crown vic probably has turpentine in it by now! I've been riding as much as I can. Over 4K on my 550 in about 3 months... Riding to work is easy for me, since it's less than a mile :-D

Well, I didn't quite make it without getting wet - about 1/2 mile worth of rain - just enough to make the header and tailpipes look like hell. Ah well, I've got more Never-Dull.

    Good work gents.

Though again, I didn't see any other bikes on the way home.

I missed out on this unfortunately due to the fact I was recovering from a lung infection.

(Got blocked in for a half mile or so behind a badly tuned diesel dump truck. No amount of closed helmet vents can help that situation.)

But I have been riding my Seca to work every day that I can anyway so I think that counts. ^_^

It definitely counts for something. I think I'm averaging about 3.5, maybe 4 days/week on the bike. Not bad for midwestern weather and a job/errands that occasionally REQUIRE that I take the cage.

BTW, I'm not one for naming vehicles besides boats (and maybe if I ever get an airplane), but I like the name "Serenity," whether or not it's a Firefly reference, nothing calms MY mind like riding my Seca.

So, when are we Chicagolanders going to get together?

Big geek that I am I named her Serenity after Firefly but your thoughts are not far from mine after I'd named her. She provides much serenity in my life. :)

As for getting together I'm not sure. I'm full up this month so maybe next month.

Nothing wrong with naming a bike. I love it almost as much as my family (and probable more then some of them)

I didn't say there was anything wrong with it, it's just not my way. Heck, we call our cat, "Cat." We were nice enough to give the daughter a name, though :D

The bike provides serenity.... but the thousands of idiots with cars, not so much. :x And then you have idiots with legs (aka pedestrians).

Which why I love riding home from work after midnight, not much of either on the road.

I'm on the bike at 5:30am usually then back on it at 2:30pm so with one exception there's not much on the road during those times.

The exception? Construction/landscaping traffic. I see more dirt trucks and pickup trucks each morning than I see all day.

Of course the 60 mile/day round trip is worth it.

I can't complain about how much time I get to ride...
