I have the service manual but its not very good. No pictures and doesn't mention why my timing chain is too tight to install the intake sprocket.

I see marks on the pulse generator, I see the small punch marks on the cams but I guess I'm missing something. I dont know where on the rotor the letters should be. I'm also still trying to figure out why the chain is super tight without the ....

Maybe the guide I put on the exhaust side isn't in its lower pocket. I'll have to look at that but this has been a three year build. Any pictures or you tubes would greatly help. This next to my friends gsxr, is extremely confusing to build.

You didn't install the chain tensioner yet did you? Is all of the slack out of the exhaust side of the chain? Is the chain actually on the crankshaft sprocket, or is it hung up (it might even have a kinked link)?

No tensioner installed. I turned clockwise to take out slack, and I've turned the crankshaft a few times no problem. Going out to look again but what's the actual procedure for a fresh drop in untimed everything?

It is best to have the FSM or the Haynes on hand. This is not a job you want to get wrong, and just typing the procedure out for you to read leaves room for error (mainly on my part as I'm on vacation and forgot to pack my manuals).

I have the Haynes manual. Probably why it sucks..., but it really just says tdc 1 and punch marks on the arrows.

But what is top dead center on cylinder 1. I can use a screwdriver but there are marks on the rotor. So I assume one of those marks should align with something on the points disc.

Found it. The t mark aligns with the center line on the top point.

This a weird deal this one.

You got it. T is the standard mark for TDC #1. My Miata even uses it.

Funny ive had the manual for at least two years and never noticed the Haynes logo. I'm a true hater of Haynes. Better than nothing but they are usually garbage
