Hey people, picked up an 86 xj700 that has some electrical issues. Going off that simplified harness I found on this site and now I figured out it needs new coild. So just wondering what everyone else is using for aftermarket ones? Thanks for the help!

All depends, really. Some will say stock, some will say Dyna or Accel aftermarkets. Personally? I had a pr of old '96 Katana 600 coils that I had re-wired and booted, and slapped them on and cut the plg wires to length after mounting. They work perfectly :D

Bikes with modern electronic ignition do pretty well with oem coils. Old dogs like my 73 cb750 needed better coils
Dyna and Dyna electronic ign made a world of difference. But Dyna or Accel do make a difference on cold mornings nice hot spark will make anything start better.

The trouble will be finding coils that fit under the tank. AFIK Dyna is the only manufacturer that has the right coils that are also the right size to fit without having to make a ton of modifications.
