Found a lovely '83 Maxim 650 and have been getting it tour ready. One thing I'm looking for is a passenger back rest/sissy bar for: a) making my wife comfy when she rides with me - and b) something to strap bags to when they sit on the large luggage rack currently attached.
I live in a remote area in Canada and I'd love to order something online, but am hesitant, worried stuff won't fit. Anyone else have luck with ordering aftermarket stuff for their XJ650 Maxim? What and where?
    Thanks!

Check Ebay or ask around here for a factory one, or an aftermarket. There aren't many places sitll making racks for any XJ. Hepco and Becker used to make one, and might still have them avalible.

Here's a very nice used one. Price is a bit high though.

Thanks, I looked on ebay, nothing - but found that some have come up in the past.
I'd love a factory one, if someone was selling.
I just figured if anyone had luck with a more universal one I'd like to hear about it.

any chance you're gonna be riding through New York? You could stop and we could bolt one right on. :)

Anytime you find oem or aftermarket accessories you have to jump on them
So little left out there I grab anything for my bikes and any that I might need in the future.
I have a large stash for my z50,ct70,cb900 and now after stripping the xj750 have all electrical spares for 650seca

Is this still available? I just got a 650 this week and I'm looking for this. I'm in MN, but I could make the drive...

In fact, I'll be out that way for my cousin's wedding in July. Do you know if this would work on my 82 XJ650?

That is a great big maybe. The brackets look the same, but I'm not sure about the placement.

Yes, it will fit. There are some bushings that the rear bolts go through to fill the spacers between the backrest and the frame as they are bolted down. The turn signalsount to the backrest lower corners. The fronts are adjustable, and lock into place with Allen setscrews.

That's not a backrest. It is the rear support for the optional tall-backed king/queen seat.

Correct Dave but we didn't sell many seats as they were quite pricey back then. If my memory is right about $300 for seat and bar. And most guys wanted her to "hold on tight"
