So I tore into a spare carb that came with my bike when I bought it. I'm not familiar with these carbs so I thought I'd dig into them and see what it's about. Now I'm no genius but this looks rough! Any idea if that black gasket around the bowl comes off? It's almost like its "glued" Into place? I've added some photos for you guys to look at...

black gasket is replacable if you do not have a broken one there is no need to remove them unless you want to.

Seen worse carbs, they should clean up fine, but that is only the start of a fine tuned bike,,,

Yes it comes off. A CLEAN carb body is BARE body w/ NOTHING on it.

Like this.... Except these have new throttle shaft seals already installed...

GO ahead and do the whole shebang; cleaning, new gaskets, new float needles and seats, new throttle shaft seals, ect. That way you have a spare set ready to go (assuming your bike is running well now).

The Church of Clean will show you the way.
