What kind of liquid material did you use to remove paint off of gas tank or metal?

I have used Jasco that came in a spray can as well as in a metal jug, on other paint of metal surface but it wasn't strong or fast enough for the job.

There are "aircraft paint remover" at hardware stores, but unsure of their strength.
I am avoiding those that labeled with "green" or eco-friendly material, because i know it is weak stuff.

+1 on aircraft stripper but found it easier to just take it to media blasting. Cost me 40 bucks and got rid of everything. Considering the cost for the stripper itself, the work involved and potential risk to your health, it was a good deal.

That does sound like a deal. I guess the only negatives are you didn't learn anything new and don't have the satisfaction of knowing it was your own work.

Yeah - deal with your own shit - literally ! ;)

In reality I understand you can't do everything and $40 is very cheap for that. I wasn't trying to make anyone feel bad - just a fact that's all.

For me the process of learning something new factors into my choices more than it probably should cos often what I learn is that I don't want to do it myself again :D

I agree with the feeling of accomplishment when doing it yourself. And yes, watching this stuff bubble is awesome. I did the top of the tank but realized I wouldn't be able to get the underside completely clean. And since I wanted to get the tank painted by professionals, which is already expensive, and not pay more for them to clean the tank again, I went with media blasting.
Other thing you can do is to buy your own media blaster. Useful for other stuff as well.
