hmmmmm, don't know why this forum got double-posted

 

The main canopy is up, food is in the freezer, Shop is getting cleaned… Relatively...., And the Porta John was delivered about half an hour ago!

Typical NYCC morning--- cloudy, but they still say its gonna clear up. Might be a first!!!

Anyway, time to start the coffee, lay out the tools, and get the day going!

Special thanks in advance to XJ4Ever sending parts in time for the jobs to do, PLUS a nice batch of door prizes for everyone. Thank you, Len!

Bob has a new set of engine guards, and a new tool pouch assembled;

Elliott's forks are being rebuilt at the moment;

Larry's Harley shocks were adjusted;

John's squirrelly-handling 700 was diagnosed to a loose frame bolt on the removable section;

 

Elliott is going to be one happy puppy when you're done..........

 

2 bikes being shimmed;
one exhaust system going on ;

 

John's 650rj started for the first time in 8-10 or more years, started and synced-- now he has other work to be able to do

 

Turned out to be a beautiful day here. Took a 30 mile ride with a buddy.
Hope you guys had the same awesome weather up there, and had a fun day.

Some headed home, here's those who went for the ride.....

 

Great time had fun learned a lot what more could you ask for. O yes bikes running like a top good show!!

 

Glad you could make it!!

Nutshell Summary:

- two bike got engine guards
- one bike got forks totally rebuilt
- two bikes got shimmed
- five bikes got colortuned
-five bikes got synced
- one bike got started for the first time in 10(?) years

More to add ---

 

Some more fun bits--

Johnny77 got tangled up with a deer on the way... Had to leave a bag of deer-blood soaked gloves and other garments hidden in a knapsack behind a guardrail post ( to pick up on the way home, so he didnt come in all covered in venison stew ), and stopped at a car wash to wash the bike. Looked like it tore a seal as the bike was slathered in oil when he got here---- well, we diagnosed the issue ::
------ make sure when you have someone do an oil change for you that the CHANGE the oil, not just add all the all the oil to your already-full crankcase-----drained a lot out, problem solved. Best part was, no damage to Johnny or his bike.... Well, may be a pair of dirty pair of underwear behind the guardrail, too......

Larry and JoAnne rode his new sportster 1200 instead of the 750 Seca

Doug brought his new Goldwing but was a great help on the fork rebuild

Fuller56 brought his nice 650rj non-turbo ( which got shimmed, color-tuned)

John Milliken's friend Dustin brought a 650rj project that hasnt run in a decade----a raid of my parts stash, and we got the bike to NOT start because john had the starter plate in backward so the starter would spin in reverse. A few more minutes in the bench, and that was solved.
---- confetti all over, and everyone cheered when Dave got the bike to fire up!!!!!! The confetti?----- a mouse nest in the right muffler that got blown all over the place ( and all over everyone standing behind the bike... lol

Everyone got some nice bits for their bikes.... Ranging from brand new clamps and clips, to color-matched tubing, to cable-lube tools. All compliments of Len at XJ4Ever.

Names were drawn out of a cup for the two grand door prizes...Dustin was the recipient of a Spin-on Oil Filter kit, and Chris was the recipient of a fuse box upgrade kit..... Also, both door prizes were compliments of Len at XJ4Ever.

It was a great day!! Special thanks to Len for all his help and support , too!!

We turned the light out around 12:40am.

Now, time for coffee, and packing it all up til next June.

BluesBass hasn't crawled out of his tent yet, and Bobbi's still snoring pretty heavily out here... Lol

Many thanks to Dave and his family. It was a great day, I have the sunburn to prove it.
It was a hoot seeing the mouse house blow out of the muffler, there was quite a bit of it.

I ordered a box of stuff from Len Thursday afternoon (bad timing on my part). There it was, leaning against the front door when I got home.
So I'm having my own clutch and sundry light-emitting devices clinic.
Amazing turnaround from XJ4Ever, Atlanta to Central NY in a day-and a half.

A great time was had by one and all, thanks again to Hogfiddles and family.

 

Glad to hear the parts were at least there when you got home!! It's always nice to get a Care Package

the "party" seca! Thanks a bunch guy I had a blast! So happy to see and hear my bike run for the first time! Even SilverBullet (bike) celebrated coming to live again!

 

Len, thanks for the nifty stuff! Much appreciated. None of the bikes would have been there if it wasn't for your help and parts! Thanks!

haha its been a couples years since ive been on and after the carb clinic i figured its time to get back on! im hoping to get in touch with everyone else from there too! will there be more pics of the event and the bikes? i seen a lot being taken lol

I can't express how appreciative I am for all the support in this community. Many thanks go out to everyone involved in CNYCC #8:

Dave and his family for hosting CNYCC, and for providing a wealth of knowledge and, of course, PARTS! Any time I get myself into a bind, Dave's always just a text or phone call away with the solution.

Len Chacal - for sending out an advanced fork rebuild kit when I only ordered the basic rebuild kit - YOU ROCK!! My front end absolutely kicks ass now! The ride is incredible - I could not possibly be happier.

John (BluesBass) for dropping some serious knowledge demonstrating how to rebuild front forks on my bike. Dude, you're a mechanical mastermind! And an awesome teacher!

And of course, everyone else who attended CNYCC #8 for being super involved and cool to hang out with. We're all in this together! Already looking forward to the next one.

Many thanks again to Dave and his family for being gracious host and Len from xj forever. Now after seeing the goodies why stop with fork seals when progressive forks are only a couple more steps.
