I'm replacing the clutch and springs on my '82 XJ1100J and I am trying to remember if I needed a gasket on te covers that you take off to get to the clutch...
I'm thinking that I do since there is oil in there...but I I don't remember buying one before.
Do they generally come off on one piece and can they usually be reused??

Yes, a new gasket is warranted. Sometimes they come off whole and can be reused, but I wouldn't do that more than once or twice, and not at all if the gasket is more than a few years old.
