Just going to tweak my bike some. Mods along with painting and good elbow grease scrubbing. Not a solid goal in mind. Just seeing where it takes me. I just like filling my time with something I love. The pics here are of the bike as is. I didn't put the pods on and the side panels were missing when I bought it. Only 24,000 miles. It was my daily driver for the last 2,000 miles and now that I have some time to work on it, it is time to make her feel beautiful.

    Mods so far
1: The only thing I have done so far is twisted/bagged all the electronics and battery tray around and tucked into the old air-box area so the Florida rain wont ruin my day.
2: Removed the auxiliary light that didn't run and wired the primary light to the switch so I can turn it on and off.
3:Removed the main stand that had no spring return and wont be used.
4: Removed the safety's for the clutch and side stand. So don't start it if you are not being careful!

One of those mods is going to get you a ticket.

Which one will get me ticketed? I am thinking the light also. Probably if I forget to turn it on a dusk. I will wire it back up when I put the new one in. For now I am getting some kind of battery drain from that part of the original harness so I just bypassed it until I can get in there. Being my daily driver up to his point I had to stick to small quick fixes.

Yes the light. All motorcycles sold in the USA after 1978 are required to have a headlight that is on whenever the engine is running.

Yes, the light switch mod CAN get you a ticket, but only if you don't get in the solid habit of turning it on every time you start the bike. If you turn it on every time, then there's no worry about a ticket cuz the light will be on. HOWEVER, all you have to do is forget to turn it on ONE time......and have THAT be the time that a cop spots you.

that switch for the aux light might not handle the current for the headlight. i think the aux light was 35 watts and a high beam is like 60 or 65. so keep a eye on that. if the right grip starts smoking, you'll know what happened :)

in some states, it is a law that you run with the high beam on during daylight hours too. and just a good idea imho.

Wow... That's a new one to me---!

But I know a lot of people here run with their high beam on all the time, even at night. I always try to turn to low for oncoming cars, but if I forget.... Oh well they'll see me. But when I'm in the car or truck I try to be religious about not high beaming anyone

I drive a car that's pretty low, and high beams practically blind me, either oncoming, or following me. Even low beams with the HID lights are pretty bad. Stock ride height Civic, but everybody around here drives trucks. Riding position on the Seca is much higher. I drive with the headlights on anytime I would think of using the wipers. Reduced visibility = reduced safety!

I'll check the wattage for sure. I don't currently run high beams all the time because I always wear a super bright miners head lamp, even on the brightest days. =] JK. About the always high beams, I do prefer to be visible annoying over dead.

You don't need to do anything to the frame. The stepped seat is a function of how the seat pan is made, and also to the shape of the underlying foam. You can have the seat rebuilt (or do it yourself) to make it flat. One caveat: the seat will have to be either higher in the front (more padding for you), or lower in the rear (less padding for the lady).

Thank you. A 125?! That is not enough engine for two dudes lol!! I really enjoyed rebuilding the new harness, even with all the headaches. Next winter I'll drop the engine and rebuild it from the bottom up, while its out strip and paint the frame as well. On a side note, when I cut the housing from the harness that runs down the left side of the tank It was full of water.... No shorts and I replaced all the wires but that was not comforting.

Water in the harness seems to be a common thing It seems. Had a 650 and now a 550 and both had water in there but never affected anything...
is that a label machine thingie magicky? I need to get me one of those. Blue markers tape and pen doesn't look nice, even if it's just temporary. I can never read my own writing on there after a while.

Yeah, I have two actually. I use one for regular marking, then I have one loaded with weather proof tape! So I just leave the labels on the vital connections. Now when I forget whats what its all right there.
