Yesterday I snapped 2 header bolts for the exhaust. They are on the same exhaust pipe. The result is an exhaust leak. This happened between paychecks so getting it fixed right now isn't possible. I use the bike to commute about 100 miles a day round trip. Will this hurt the bike to run it like this until I can get someone to remove the bolts ? I would try but they are broken down in the bolt hole. But just wondering if it is ok to run until fixed ?

    Thanks,
    Ron

I broke 3 bolts on my exhaust! Its been 3 weeks and I drive it like that every day. I highly doubt it will cause any damage.

    You're OK.

Just have a glance at the Spark Plug. If the Leak is so severe that it changes the Mixture ... you may have to add a bit of Richness to keep things safe until you blow the paycheck getting it fixed.

Don't even mess with those old, rusted-on exhaust nuts.
Run a DREMEL Cut-off Wafer across a flat on the Hex ~> Diagonally.
Then, split the Nut and just let it drop-off onto the floor.

Because you take a Diagonal Cut ... you're not likely to do any serious damage to the stud if the Cut-off Wafer makes contact with the stud.

If you are going to be doing a whole New Donut Job ... apply some Permatex Anti-Seize Compound to the threads of the Studs before nutting it up with some New Hexes.

I did get one out last night by drilling the pilot hole a little deeper than I had earlier. I used an extractor and it came right out. Didn't fair so well with the second one. Did the big "no no" ! Broke the extractor off in the pilot hole. That stud is broke off just inside the hole. I left it alone for another day. I did get a new bolt in the one I got out. It is quiet now. So I'll limp along till I can figure a way to get the other one out. Someone mentioned using several diamond tipped Dremmel bits to get the extractor out.
