I ordered a spin-on oil filter kit from Len with the Purolator PureONE oil filter. I haven't put it on yet but I did read the following on Purolator's website (after I already got my kit):

"If you're thinking you want to install a PureONE oil filter on your bike, please think again. PureONE oil filters are designed for vehicles, not bikes. Because of PureONE's high efficiency, the motorcycle oil pump may not be able to handle the pressure. The Purolator motorcycle filter line is designed to meet the specific needs of a bike; therefore we highly recommend the use of a Purolator ML filter over a PureONE oil filter."

Has anybody had any problems running the PureONE oil filter on your bike? Should I pick up a different filter? Thoughts?

    I've alway used Fram's because:
    1. That is what was on the bike when I got it
    2. They come with new o-rings
I don't believe that Len would send you something that isn't correct for your bike.

I'm not talking about the stock type oil filter. This is for the spin-on oil filter conversion kit which allows you to use an automotive type spin-on oil filter. I trust Len and his recommendations but maybe Purolator has changed something with the PureONE oil filter where the higher relief valve pressures won't work correctly now. Just curious if anyone else has used one or heard anything about it. I have no idea how the oil pump pressures in our bikes compare to those in cars.

I've been running this filter on my bike for the last 500 miles. Hasn't given me any trouble yet...

It's a Purolator PureONE PL14612. It's a gold looking color. I did some looking into it and this filter has a relief valve pressure of 14 to 18 lbs. The K&N PS-1008, which is black, and K&N HP-1008, which is white with a nut welded on, both have 11 to 17 lb relief valves.

Thanks Polock. That BMW filter seems like a pretty weird design....sounds messy.

A Justy, ha! That was my wife's (then girlfriend) first car! We used to have lots of fun zipping around in that thing, until it caught on fire on the highway... We were wondering which one of us failed to get the cigarette butt out the window when the smoke started seeping up into the cabin.

I'm asking 'cause I'm pretty sure I won't find the original where I'm living so I have to check any cross reference...

Rod these are filter numbers for bikes with spin-on filter adapters.
the last time I got a original type filter it was with the tractor filters.
