Loki, in a previous thread you were trouble shooting a vacuum operated Petcock that you had recently rebuilt.
Are you sure you rebuilt the Petcock properly and replaced worn parts?
Did you do it like this?
    http://www.xjbikes.com/forums/threads/rebuilding-the-yamaha-vacuum-fuel-valve-w-pics.25058/

    Maybe you don't need to buy a new non-vac one . . . .
    sorry Len!

I did rebuild it a while ago but have been unable to test it. To be honest I was just trying to simplifie things with a non vacuum petcock

That'll only happen if he has a stuck float or crud keeping the float needle from seating. More likely is forgetting to turn the petcock on and stalling out a few miles from home.

I concur. Followed Big Fitz procedures and had no issues.

Fitz would be the first person to tell you that rebuilding a vacuum petcock sucessfully is only achievable if the casting is in good enough shape to be rebuildable. The vacuum o-ring has to seal well or it will still leak, even after polishing.
Testing is recommended. No part should be installed on any machine without knowing if it works properly or not (most electrical parts excepted).

No. Running a non vac pc is similar to doing the running synch with a auxiliary fuel tank.

    6mm fuel line.

The cheap stuff works. These engines are not high compression that you need to run 90+ octane. However, if you can find a pure gas station, I highly recommend it. Your tank and carbs will thank you too.

Lokitruck That blue tank is just a couple shads darker than mine, very nice! I have ran cheap gas and mid grade, don't see any difference. I do use pure gas and stabil in it for winter storage

in my sidecover it says to use regular gas tested with 91 octane.
I add Berryman B-12 CHEMTOOL carb cleaner to every tank . Sta-Bil is for storage.

I run 87 + a double shot of Seafoam. Don't forget the inline sintered fuel filter. Might also want to visually inspect the gasket on the gas cap.

I use nothing but gas during the riding season(s). Whatever low-test gas is at the pump. I use Stabil for winter storage. The best way to keep your carbs clean and happy is to ride.

On long trips (3 or more hours of uninterrupted riding at highway speeds) during hot weather I drop in 1 oz of Marvel Mystery Oil per tankful of gas to help keep the top end happy.

The key to long days is having a good seat and a practiced backside. The stock seats are really good for twisties and short trips, but not much else.

OK then. You hae a very interesting brake caliper.
Have you removed the pivot bolt from the rear of the caliper?
There is a locknut at the bottom, so the bolt will just spin in place unless you put a wrench on that locknut.
