Alright guys, I'm fairly new to this site and I'm sure this thread had came up before but can't find it right away so here it goes...
I ride an 1982 XJ750 Maxim and it's about time for a new rear tire. But here is the thing, I don't like a few things about my 750... I'm making a café out of it and I don't really like the twisty wheels and I would love a spoked wheel, I'm also trying to shed as much weight as possible and these wheels are really heavy.
Furthermore I think the bike is geared to low so I was thinking about getting an 18" Seca rear wheel. In my calculations it would give me about a 6,5% win in rpm's.
    Anyone who did this before?

    Greetings from El Paso

The 750 Seca wheel has the same spokes. The machine isn't geared too low. The Seca wheel will fit, but once you put a tire on it it will hit the fender.

What you want is a set of wheels from a Maxim 700 (and a Seca to make a cafe' out of. The frame geometry is better suited. If your cafe' plans include cutting the frame....get a Suzuki.

Thanks for the reply Moe, and he fenders have already been ditched :) And yeah, the frame is kind of awkward for a cafe but I'm making a custom rear subframe to straighten the lines in the frame a little bit.

@k-moe are you talking about those beautiful 5 spoke jobbies like on Dave's showcase 700? I want a set for my Seca, but was wondering about fitment... any issues you know of that may come up? I love those rims! Has anyone done this swap?

You can also use the spoked wheels from a Virago. Do a search for previous threads that say what specific years/models.
