so I decided to give me carbs a more thorough cleaning. In the dismantling process I broke off one of the supports that holds the float in! dang. Can this be jbwelded or epoxied?

also, removing the float needle seats (?) - one of the little filter screens was completely missing, and another was badly clogged. couldn't believe how dirty everything was despite recently boiling in lemon juice (without removing jets).

lastly, a lot of the jets were badly mangled and had to be vice gripped out.
does someone on ebay sell a complete replacement kit?

i had just replaced the float bowl gaskets but they broke apart taking off the bowls. so one more thing to replace!! gaahh

click this link len is a supporting vendor http://www.xjbikes.com/forums/forums/xj4ever-supporting-vendor.23/
this is his main site link email is in upper left for quotes http://www.xj4ever.com/ he has what you need
there is a thread on how to fix your post someplace it will have to be searched for.

. basicly the fix is to drill a hole in the post and whats left of the post insert a pin.

lemon juice aint the cure all for cleaning carbs, but you can not use carb dip unless you dissamble the carbs

Use an in-line fuel filter and you can get rid of the little screens.

    Thanks.
It's an 82 Maxim 650. I have no idea if the carbs are Hitachi or Mikuni - doesn't say anywhere on them.
There are a few jets I'd like to replace but don't even know what they are. I'll try to find a diagram.
Thanks for the link to Len's site.

They are Hitachi carbs, if they're the originals.

And it does say on them. There is a stylized H cast into the carb bodies (one side, centered on the slide bore), and HSC32 anodized/inked onto the bottom side of each float bowl (the anodizing/inking may be faded).
