I just got my frame back from powder coating.
Just wanted to start with a few decals items I got for the frame.
Got some decals from Chacal and made my own VIN Lable.

+2 on those labels. I had no idea oem replacements were available. I just removed mine a couple of days ago to strip the frame for paint. Nice to know I can put them back on if I decide to.

while len has all the oem labels in xj4ever , reprinting your own vin label may cause you problems when you get a vin check.

I had to get my bike vin checked by the California Highway Patrol, they said it was fine. The officer doing the inspection was actually suprised, when I told him I printed the vin lable myself.

I was wondering about that VIN label.
A long time ago, when I took my frame for powdercoating, I removed the VIN label als carefull als I could.
The result is a barely readable label, so I would like to make a new one.
For legal matters I can always show the original one.
And how would a police officer tell that your label is not original, when you make a good copy, with the correct data.
The VIN on the label will match the VIN stamped in your head tube.
But maybe the police is more lenient at this side of the Atlantic.

@YamaMax82: very nice looking bike and well done to complete it in six months.
My restauration took almost ten years.
Can you give me some pointers on how you created your VIN label? Thanks.

I used photoshop to create the lable.
I started by measuring the original lable that was on the bike and made a rectangle of the same size in photoshop.
I just typed in what was on the lable using justified alignment and resizing the vin number to a biger size. Then put in the spaces between the words and letters to match the original. Last, I just printed on a vinyle sticker sheet and put a waterproof clear sticker on after the print. Just used my ink jet printer and set the resolution to 300dpi.

We need to find you some sidecovers.

Oh, that VIN label. It's just a lable. The reason you can just print a new one is that the legal VIN is stamped into the other side of the steering neck.
