I'm looking for some wiring information for the atari on my bike, the speedo quit working so I bought an aftermarket cluster.

    Thanks!

Is your Speedo not cable driven? Taco probably works on a pulse through the wiring loom but some were also cable driven. If you can specify which aftermarket cluster you purchased then I'm sure someone will be able to advise .

The speedo was cable driven, now it will be magnet driven. I just need the wiring schematics for which color contours what.

Little confused as the 1983 should not have the Atari, perhaps you really have a 1982?

    Links for wiring diagram:

Link for removing the square head light on a 750 Seca, which I believe is the same wiring at the Maxim if it is a 1982 - XJ750J. If you truly have the Atari, the wiring for the headlight, tail light, and brake light that route through it must be modified as in the link.

    '83 Maxim has conventional gauges.
    '82 has the Atari.
Rooster has all the links you need to wire up aftermarket gauges. If your bike really does have an ATARI you may consider building a housing for the systems monitor so you can keep the fuel gauge. It can also be relocated under the seat for a bit of hidden cool-factor.

Then you don't have any funky wiring issues to deal with. Follow the directions for your new speedometer as they are written.
