need a motor for my 650 at least that's what my limited experience tells me when you hit start it just barely clicks like it wants to. Was doing maintenance and used it a lot one day then nothing.
    Any in put thx.
P.s. A new one from dealer is exactly what I paid for bike.

Pull your starter and bench test it. Use your charger as teh voltage source, negative to the case and positive to the post. If she spins it's not the starter. If she does not spin then you should open it up and have a look at the brushes. A rebuild kit will be cheaper than a used starter (that you should rebuild anyway).

    What are your numbers:

    Battery voltage at rest

Battery voltage while the starter button is engaged

image.jpg Have you checked the relay, just because it goes "click" doesn't mean that it is working. Have rebuilt a few over the years and many have the contact area cooked! Old screwdriver between the 2 large bolts on top of starter relay will tell all!!

thank you I will check that while I was pressing starter button it was going strong (working on it and couldn't get it started) went from turning strong then tried it again then click like it wants to engage

Just oil change, some cleaning plugs , just got it so mostly some close inspections ( been running ok for last month but felt like it had fouled plugs I know they run cold ) .started up after I did these then next day just turned over you could hear it wanted to fire but couldn't quite get it to. I know I turned that starter over a lot trying to get it started then nothing . A little thump that's it like battery is dead and not getting enough power that's it from strong fast turning over to next second nothing

    Sounds like a flat battery

+1. The battery is small to begin with. It doesn't take long to flatten one.

To all thanks after a complete step by step of electrical system I found that starter is good as well as battery. Starter relay was to blame
