No matter how much adjusting you do the wheel always spins. I figured that I probably have to do the plates and the springs. I dont know how many different types of plates are actually in their thoughts. Like friction plates and plain plates. I found this on eBay I heard ebc is a good brandhttp://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?nav=item.view&id=281062514927&alt=web then I also find springs

Basic rebuild include friction plates, springs, bolts, cover gasket and fresh oil. Imo ebc is good but make certain they are proper for your bike. Fyi Len also sells everything you'll need.

Have you removed the shifter cover for a visual inspection?

But do you think that basic rebuild would fix the problem. I had the cover off earlier in the year but not lately. Are all the plates the same in their

If the machine is in gear, and the clutch is adjusted correctly, and the clutch still slips then you need to rebuild your clutch.

ok i took it apart today and the plain plates were deeply engraved to much to just polish them up so all the plates are getting replaced. so are the springs and the gasket. why do people usually replace the bolts i will if i have to but they look brand new no where closed to stripped or is it because of different reasons.

bolt replacement is because of the high stress they are under and is good pratice.
its like when you change the head gasket in a car your supposed to replace the bolts, stresso, or the washer on your oil drain plug or the crush washers on your brake lines good pratice

you only want to do the clutch once, would be a bitch to have to do it a second time for a broken bolt.

its like going to the church of clean and sitting in the back row instead of going up to the altar

Yeah I took a lot of shortcuts before I started reading alot and I really regret ed it. Do you know if they are special bolts are just a hardware store bolt

look at the end of the bolt on the head see if there is a grade number on it. I would purchase them from xj4ever or a dealer . the bolts in a hardware store may not be strong enough.

You don't need to replace the bolts.
Their only tightened to 7 ft/lbs, their not stressed or they would not be 6mm bolts
Or at least higher grade bolts.
Everyone changes them because somebody a long time ago said to.
    But hay, their cheap.

As someone who had to pull his clutch three times due to broken bolts, you should probably replace them all. They're super easy to get out of you do break one, but it really isn't worth the hassle.

Wow, three times. What do you think is making these bolts break?

I've done that myself but it wasn't the bolts fault

Order your parts from XJ4Ever, tell him your bike and what you need, he WILL get you everything you need, no guessing. Often times on e-bay the pictures and descriptions are not what they appear to be. Don't mess with that malarkey - talk to Len/ Chacal.

Trust and believe for I speak the truth.

I 100% agree. Len is your XJ friend when it comes to honesty, accuracy and availability of parts. I've bought from him many times and he has been the go-to person from the beginning. FWIW:An order he fulfilled is in the mail to me at this moment.
