    Hi, new here!
Just picked up a good running 650, but I do not like the tank nor the seat.
Working with upholstery etc ill fix the later issue..
BUT ive been told that few tanks fit, not even say.. a Benelli Mojave tank from india (worst case, the tank that is)?

Yes I know. not to shabby at that but don't really have the time, want to spend the little time I have of to go trough it, fix details, but also change the look a little.
In short I do not want to fab and weld in a new tunnel in a tank, I was just curious if someone maybe had an idea.

If you don't want to fab and/or weld, then you're basically saying that you only want a drop-in replacement. The only plug-n-play replacement is the tank for a 750 maxim. It's a bit wider, taller, and carries another gallon capacity. Visually, it give the bike a nicer, fuller line both from the top, and from the side views.

Seat.....you can get the later flatter seat, you can get the earlier deep scooped seat, or you can get the tall-backed king/queen seat. Anything else you do, requires removing the seat cover, pulling the foam, and fabbing another seat foam to the 650 seat pan. You need the 650 seat pan because that is what fits the bike. Anything on top of the pan is soft stuff.

Thanks, I am not against doing some work I just don't want to spend days cutting and welding the tank.
I'd rather find a tank with a tunnel wide enough, so, I wanted to see if anyone for example knew if a be benelli Mojave tank would fit over the frame.
I do realize I have to fab brackets etc no Mather what tank.

I've done a lot of custom upholstery in hotrods etc so the seat is not that Scary to figure out.

    Thanks for all the advice

In THAT case, think about a V-Star tank. I picked on up to play around with on a 700. This weekend, if I get a chance, I'll drop it onto a maxim frame and see whether it's do-able, and what mods. Remind me.... If you don't hear from me on it

I had read about someone who thought it would drop right on, but didn't know, So I picked one up locally that had a dent--got it relatively cheap. Figured it would be a good investment in learning.

So, I had set it in place after I got it. Here's what I remember:

-It is very close to the engine, maybe even contacting it when close to stock mounting points.
-there still needs to be some custom brackets made that will be stand-offs to anchor the tank to the frame. The stand-offs need to slip onto the frame original tank mounts, then extend a couple inches or so to allow the v-star tank to sit a bit higher so it is off the engine.

    - it has to sit far enough back so the top triple clamp/bars/fork tubes don't hit it.

I can't remember what the deal with the rear tank mount was...... I'll get that back down this weekend and play with it again. In the end, there was too much to do at the time, and the tank just hangs here for now. I'll get back to it some time.....

There's also plenty of room left under the tank to hide wiring
