consensus on standing idle?

    Where does everyone have their bikes set 1k? 1.5k?.....1.2k?

    mine is currently at 1k seems low.

    The important is not the consensus here, but what your manual says. Mine says 1100 rpm for a Seca900, but it could be different for your bike.

    '82 XJ750J Maxim........1,050 rpm.....+ or - 50 rpm...per service manual

    550's are about 1200 rpm give or take a few.

    I like 1050 to 1100. Your factory tach could be off, I know one of my bikes the tach is reading low and I have not had a chance to take it apart and clean it. Which reminds me I need to search for tach and speedo cleaning and lube.

    1200 for me also I set my idle after a 15 mile ride. found when I first set it after a 10 minutes of running it would always climb after riding. had me looking for a vacuum leak, now it is 1200 at lights and stops.
