Ok, let's pretend that I'm an electrical idiot. Suppose that the majority of my run ins with electrons have ended with me lying on the ground, curled up in a ball and foaming at the mouth. Now suppose that I own a 30 year old mo-bike with a rat's nest of wires under the seat. Does anybody thing that this meter would be a good starting point for a novice electrician? If not, what should I be looking for? The sale lasts a week, so feel free to discuss!

    Thanks for the help!

I'm mostly the same as you with the foaming at the mouth part when it comes to electrons. My multimeter had less functions than that one and gets me by just fine.

Buy it. That's a lot of meter for the sale price (you're buying the meter and getting some free tools, and a spiffy smuggling...errr carrying case). It will do everything you need, and a few things that you'll only ever use on the rare occasion.

That was my thought, too. I wanted to be certain it would work on the bike though. Didn't want to buy it and then find that it would only open up a new page on the "Honey Do" list for around the house.

Well, I bought it. Of course the one in the store is nothing like the one in the flyer/on line. Now I gotta compare features to see if it is what I wanted. On the plus side, this one came with a hard case instead of a silly little bag, so no embroidery for Matti. Not my first toolbox that I have painted. Now to figure where to stick those probes...

It's easy - find a live electrical socket and stick the red one in one side and hold the black one with your teeth. Make sure you're standing in a bucket of salt water too.

Been there several times, LOVE the dunes.
Just cannot afford to get back with this manipulation of the Canadian $$.
Not that I am a conspiracist or anything like that..
Makes ordering from my favorite supplier more expensive, or buying anything from the US for that matter-even Beer from Oregon!!!
Good thing we have some up here. Just nice to change it up once in a while.

K-moe, your Black Butte looks delicious. Very rich, creamy head. Notice how the bottle doesn't say BEER anywhere on it, though? US regs are verrry strict about what can be called beer. I believe 4% alcohol (close to water) is the highest they can legally get. Here we have several 7 and 8% beers, with a few topping 11 or 12. I had one brought in from Germany that was 35%, which is as potent as Southern Comfort! That one was re-sealable. And really got the job done!!

    Good point Matti.
So what do they call American (Beer) that is more than 4%?
I love German beer . My better half was born and raised in the Fatherland, and have been there several times.
Tried my best to help them with their obvious glut of beer, however, never made a dent in their supply.
    Must practice more.....

Malt liquor is one of their high test products. It WILL make you crazy! Similar effect to rye whiskey.
I like the German beers, or any that strictly adheres to the German beer purity law... Who needs more than 4 ingredients?

Nope. Not at all correct. It's actually the other way around. Beer has to contain at least 1% alcohol, but has no upper limit; malt beverages can contain none at all, and also have no upper limit. Many states still have blue laws that limit how much alcohol can be in a beer that is sold outside of state-sanctioned liquor stores. Malt liquor is a pecuilar subset of beer that has added sugars to boost the alcohol content, and those sugars typicaly come from corn (and the resulting product is typicaly horrible, but cheap). Cereal Malt Beverage is yet another category (due to temperance laws) that limits the strength of beers sold in taverns and grocery stores (in some states) to 3.2% ABV.
Once upon a time you would have been right, but the microbrewery revolution has changed the spectrum of U.S. beers over the past 40 years (and many a state temperance law to allow better beers in bars).
As to the reason why you don't see the word beer on most beer labels: if you need a label to tell you that a porter is a beer, then you maybe aren't old enough to buy one.

Only 5%, but 1.5l ( nearly 1/2 US gallon) each of pure tasty goodness......
That is a regular 330ml bottle between them twins....

Yeah, I also enjoy the Dutch beers. I've got one pr two of those Grolsch bottles around the house, and a Heineken bottle tattooed on my leg.
Thank you for updating my beer info, @k-moe, always keen to know more. As I typed those things, I had a feeling I was wrong, but I gotta live up to my title, "Underinformed Opinionator"!
Here's a funny story, and it's probably gonna piss people off.
In blind taste tests, Corona regularly scores the worst, often with scores of 3-4 on 10, with comments ranging from "skunky" to "garbage tasting" to "disturbing". Somehow, in spite of this, they are still one of the fastest growing beer brands in North America! Marketing trumps taste. For me, if you gotta add a lime to make it drinkable, it's probably not drinkable!

Dave, have you ever been to a sugar shack in Eastern Ontario or Western Quebec? Not just the syrup, but the breakfast that is served with it is to DIE FOR! Beans with syrup, pancakes with syrup, syrup poured on snow, sausages with syrup, BACON WITH SYRUP! There's a reason the Red Ensign (Canada's flag) has the maple leaf on it!
If only the sap ran while the weather was good for it, I'd gladly host a Syrup Clinic!

The thing that makes Corona taste bad is it being in clear bottles. The closer to the brewery you live; the less time the beer has been exposed to sunlight, and that's what makes it skunky (any beer in a clear bottle will do the same). It also helps to buy from a place that does a lot of business.

I can attest that I've had some very fresh, very good Coronas. And I've had bad ones. I'd say your best bet is to go get one either from a Mexican restaurant or a well shopped store with a walk in cooler. Grab the six pack from the back and check the date.

Green bottles do similar things... lots of skunky Heineken. Canned beer rules the world. 500ml vs 341 ml. Just a bonus!

Cans. I guess I should try a canned beer. It used to be that all the canned ones were crap. I'll get over my prejudice by reminding myself that a keg is just a really big can.

Get a can and a pint glass. I never liked the way beer flows from a can. Coke is fine, but I don't like my beer that way. I have no good basis for this.

I am partial to very hoppy IPA's in bottles.

But I tell ya, after hard work on a hot day there is nothing much better than an icy cold Blatz from a can.
It also suits my budget these days after literally buying the farm (and tractor and mower and probably should get a welder and woodshop tools . . . Anyone know the winning lottery numbers?).
I'm so broke I can't even pay attention.
