i got the bike running but i have to hold two carbs closed and the choke full on. If i dont it dirs in about 15 to 20 seconds. Any ideas? Im hoping it just needs a color tune and carbs synced.
I have already done valve clearences and rebuilt the carbs

No, it's not just a synch and a colortune.

Two carbs closed and the choke full on means you have far too much air and far too little fuel. These carbs don't have a choke as such, it's an enrichment circuit, which dumps more gas in.

Either you have an absolutely massive air leak somewhere, or your fuel supply is choked off somewhere. Air leak might be shaft seals. Those little bastards gave me tons of grief. Fuel supply at idle runs through the pilot jets and circuit and mixture control screws.

I'm not sure what you mean "hold two carbs closed", but having the choke full on indicates lack of fuel. It could be several things, but the first thing I would do since the carbs are back on the bike is to open the pilot screws until the bike runs. If you can do that without going much over 2 1/2 turns open, then I would sync and colortune to see if that clears it up. However, I suspect that that the first two replies are on the mark and you are going to have to go back into the carbs and pay special attention to the pilot system, float height, and a proper bench sync.

I have an update. Its only if i hold the number one carb closed with my hand. It will start but only idle for about 15 to 20 seconds. Once its warm i can get it to stay running if i hold the throttle open a little bit

You have clogged passages in your carbs.
Dried gas or that brown goo is stuck and it will not
    Come out by itself.

I am going to send the carbs off and have someone professionally do it. I always think im getting them church of clean but i never do. Id rather send them to someone and just be done with it so i can enjoy the bike for a change. Im not giving up on it i love it but now i want to ride it

Hogfiddles would be the guy to send them to. He is very proficient and meticulous with his work.

X2 on the Hogfiddle recommendation. I had him do mine and am more than pleased. Money well spent.
