Does anyone know if it is possible to put spoked wheels on an 82 xj650rj? The mags I have on there now are cool but I would like to find some spoked wheels to put on. I have searched the archives but can not find anything useful.

I am going to check the bone yard this weekend to see what I can come up with.

Let us know if you find any virago spokes that work!

Went to the junk yard this weekend and they guy wanted WAY TOO MUCH for the virago rims. $700.00. I just about laughed in his face. Anyways, I have a friend with an 83 virago and we are going to take the two bikes apart side by side but it could be a few weekends before that happens. To me, the virago rims do look like they will fit. The only difference I could see that the front disk brake is only on one side. That looks like an easy mod though.

Ill let you guys know what I find anything out.
    Cheers

I've got a front Virago rim that fits my Maxim. Of course they look the same anyway but the Virago rim has dual disk.

I would like to see if that is possible as well.

Nothing would look any different except the appearance of the additional caliper. The "swoop" on this thing was exactly the same as were the bearings and seals. Complete drop in.

I would imagine I can just cap off the additional line and just use a single caliper right? I sure hope I can get these spokes to work on my cafe racer.

If your donor Virago has just the single disk, no issues. If it is the double disk, remove the disk from the unused side and cap with plastic caps just as the orignal Maxim rims are built.

Actually if I can find a virago rim with a disk on both sides of the rim, that would be best because my seca currently has a disks on each side. Unfortunately my friends bike only has a single disk but at least it will give me an idea of how it would fit. If it does work, I will try and find a set on ebay or something. .

I'm not sure about the Virago rims but earlier single disc Yamaha rims used to have a plastic cover on the other side which you could remove and the hubs were already drilled to take a second disc under it
