I've just done a compression test. These are the results-

    Cylinder 1- 164
    Cylinder 2- 163
    Cylinder 3- 159
    Cylinder 4- 164

Bike was cold, haven't run it today. Full throttle. Tested correctly. Are these numbers in spec. Bike has 40,000.

My service manual says 156 min and 171 maximum. I'd say that you are in great shape.

Would that mean that my valves are in spec? Considerably, I haven't checked in a good min.

no you need to check them, compression is not just about the valves.

compression helps to determine condition of motor, and the direction you would follow in repairs.
check your valves adjust if needed do compression again .

I would do full ignition test and charging system tests.

do all the inspections which is cost free to do

with that done you can then make the choice to continue and where to spend your money first. Make a plan to follow
you already know your going to spend money on the carbs at minimum for seals if all your parts are good.

I've already built carbs, synced and all. New coils and stator. Charge system is in spec. Valves are the absolutely only thing that haven't been done.
